Monitor Scout provides the ability to trigger what we call device alerts using the Monitor Scout API. This means that external applications can at any time trigger and close alerts for devices in Monitor Scout.

Device alerts can be used for many different purposes. They can for example be used by remote services that need full control over their own alert state, or to indicate problems with scheduled jobs like backup runs.
