Passive monitoring of private services
Monitor Scouts passive monitors help you monitor services that can't be monitored with our regular active monitors, either because the services are unavailable from the public internet or because the service type is unsupported.
A passive monitor receives updates sent by external applications using the Monitor Scout API. The monitor can be configured to alert if the reported data exceedes predefined thresholds or if no reports have been received in a certain timeframe.
Using passive monitors you can monitor anything that you yourself can create a program to monitor, while still getting the benefit of integrated monitor and alert management along with your regular monitors. As passive monitors can be set to alert if no reports are received they also help you avoid the risk of missing that the monitoring script has stopped running.
